Mr. Calvin Louie Oglesby, 88, of Meadville, MS passed away February 21, 2014 at his residence. He was born June 7, 1925 in Meadville, to Frederick and Irene Adams Oglesby.
He graduated from Roxie High School. He served in the U S Army during World War II where he earned the World War II Victory Medal. He worked 37 years for Chevron Oil Company. Mr. Oglesby was a longtime member of the Meadville Baptist Church. He was also a member of the Ben Franklin Masonic Lodge. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather.
On November 10, 1948 Mr. Oglesby married the love of his life, Ella Ruth Griffing, who preceded him in death. He was also preceded in death by his parents, son: Freddy Len Oglesby and 9 siblings: Pauline Oglesby Graves, Homer, Clem, Frank, Hugh, Hilton, Roy, Walter and Alton Oglesby and his son-in-law: Ron Walker.
His survivors include his daughter: Barbara Walker and son: Wayne Calvin (Cheryl) Oglesby; grandsons: Spencer (Pilar) and Kelly (Beth) Walker and Brandon (Courtney) and Ryan (Heidi) Oglesby; great grandchildren: Mitch, Elliane, Zachary, Nina and Chloe Walker, Grady and Morgan Pence and Madison Loring, and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
