Anthony (Tony), (Cannis) Eugene Dawson, age 78, passed away on June 13, 2026. He was born on October 31, 1947, in Coles, Mississippi to Eugene Prentiss Dawson and Genevieve Good Dawson.

Anthony was a simple man who deeply loved his family. His life was completely devoted loving his wife, Betty. He thoroughly enjoyed his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was also an avid hunter, but deep passion was turkey hunting.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Halford Dawson; his father, Eugene Prentiss Dawson; his mother, Genevieve Good Dawson; and his sister, Tangie Dawson.

Anthony is survived by his daughter, Tonya Dawson Beach and her husband, Bobby, Jr.; his brother, Kent Dawson and his wife, Becky; and his sister, Karen Jones and her husband, Tony. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Jared Brownell (Bridget), William Dawson (Rebecca), and Jillian Turner; his great-grandchildren, Vivienne (the "Snack Dealer"), Harper, Everett Anthony; bonus son, Keith Smith; bonus daughter, Carisa, a special buddy, Jesse Guillory; his dog, Smiley; and a host of nieces, nephews, family, and friends.

The family extends a special thanks to their friends from Bristol Hospice for their care and support.

A memorial service to honor the life of Anthony Dawson will be held at a later date.
